Well, the answer is not a mystery. In a time of volcanic activity in the area, molten rock seeped into volcanic rock below the surface and slowly cooled forming a hard crystalline granite layer below ground. This layer cracked over time and formed large granite blocks. Over the years the softer volcanic rock was eroded away leaving the hard granite blocks exposed. Years of erosion and weathering rounded the corners of these blocks leaving us what we see today.

The Cooper Island Beach Club at Machioneel Bay is an awesome place to spend your first or last night on Sea Runner III as it‘s really close to our base. HINT…get there early if you want a mooring ball as they fill up quickly.
While you’re there take the dinghy and tie up to enjoy a snorkel at Cistern Point. If you want to eat dinner ashore call them on channel 16 early to make reservations.
